We are currently seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse Manager (OR RN) to join our team for an exciting opportunity in MASS.

Position Summary

The OR Registered Nurse (RN) Manager will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care during surgical procedures within an acute care hospital setting. This role requires strong critical thinking, flexibility, and the ability to work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical teams in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure optimal efficiency in daily flow throughout surgical services
  • Evaluate and assess the daily schedule and staffing plan and to make adjustments to clinical assignments if necessary to enhance the overall performance of the department and functioning of the unit.
  • Evaluate and respond to changes in the daily schedule in real-time including add-on cases, late running cases, resource allocation, and other situations as they present.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders (anesthesia, surgeons, department chiefs) to balance daily changes while maintaining departmental efficiency, ensuring safe patient care and striving for optimal clinical performance and outcomes.

  • Need to be competent for on call for all specialties:
  • Must be strong in Ortho trauma
  • Total joints (Hip, Knee, Shoulder, Reverse Shoulders)
  • What Scope system do they use? Vascular (Fem Pop, AAA, AV fistula, Thrombectomies….)
  • GYN- Hysteroscopy, ABD/Vaginal/Lap assisted Hysterectomy, Cystectomy
  • General-Lap find out if the candidate is comfortable running the camera.
  • Colorectal hemicolectomy, Hepatic resections?
  • ENT (if no eyes its ok to still approve) Peds t&a and tubes
  • Urology; Prostatectomy lap vs open, TURP, Stents, Cystos Bariatrics
  • Spine (neuro and ortho) Do they do Ant/Post spines if so which table?. No cranies, yes burr hole, subdural hematoma, ….. ).
  • Trauma (No burns, yes gunshot, stabbing, multibone trauma)
  • No CV

  • Document accurately and timely in EMR (Meditech experience preferred, not required)

  • Float as needed within the OR department only (no cross-unit floating)

  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient conditions with clinical judgment and appropriate interventions
  • Uphold ethical standards and advocate for patient rights, informed consent, and autonomy
  • Delegate tasks appropriately while retaining accountability for overall patient care
  • Prioritize workload and manage time effectively in fast-paced environments
  • Practice in accordance with current evidence-based standards and hospital protocols
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to improve outcomes and promote a culture of safety
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable state and federal nursing laws and regulations
  • Perform other nursing duties as required within the scope of licensure

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted RN license (State-specific or Compact)
  • CNOR Required & must have at least 2 years of previous perioperative & surgical management experience
  • BLS certification (CPR AHA) – required
  • PALS, ACLS certification, etc – required for critical care units (OR, ICU, ER, Telemetry, etc.)
  • Other certifications specific to the Unit
  • Proficient with EMR systems (Epic, Meditech, Cerner, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and best practices across all age groups
  • Unit-specific certifications (as applicable)Active RN License – New Hampshire or Compact State (must be valid at submission)
